The village

Sidh, Gujrat — Punjab, Pakistan

Sidh sits in Kharian Tehsil, Gujrat District, in central Punjab — about 15 km from Kharian and 35 km from Gujrat city, neighbouring the villages of Kohli, Jakharr, Bhaati, and Udha. Around 500 households call it home, most belonging to the Sidhu Jat clan the village is named after, alongside Chaudhary, Bhatti, Baig, Tarkhan, Darzi, Lohar, and Syed families.

The surrounding land is arid and rainfall-dependent, so farming alone has never been the village's main livelihood — for generations, Sidh families have built their lives abroad while staying rooted at home, which is exactly why this platform exists. Day to day, the village runs on five mosques, a post office, an animal hospital, a flour mill, and a handful of schools, with cricket as the local passion — the Sidhu Fighters Cricket Club is among the most decorated teams in the area.
